Cottage Location Description: Enjoying a gloriously peaceful setting at the northern edge of Kielder Water in the Northumberland National Park this very comfortable timber lodge boasts wonderful views and superb walking cycling fishing sailing water skiing and bird watching on the doorstep. Set alongside other holiday properties it is surrounded by the largest natural woodland in the UK a haven for wildlife &ndash - red squirrels deer and woodpeckers can be spotted from the lodge verandas. All the myriad delights of the region as well as the historic castles and towns of the Scottish Borders are within easy reach. There are miles upon miles of footpaths and cycle ways to explore in and around the fantastic Kielder Forest Park. Mountain bikes can be hired to cycle any of the 8 designated trails on offer here. It also has an impressive Observatory where you can look out at the stars from one of the best places in the UK to observe the far away galaxies. Water activities can be enjoyed on the largest man-made lake in northern Europe - everything from sailing canoeing and water skiing all provided by professional instructors. When it comes to eating out you wont be disappointed. The area in and around the Forest park contains a great selection of pubs restaurants and tea rooms whilst the glorious panoramic vistas provide numerous picnicking spots when the weather suits. Kielder Castle and shop/post office are 1 mile and a pub serving food is a half mile stroll.

It is the ideal place to get away from it all, the hot tub under the stars in the snow was amazing.

Our holiday was fantastic. We relaxed, watched a shooting star from the hot tub, seen all kinds of wildlife, beautiful scenery, beautiful accommodation, well set out and was tip-top clean, not overlooked by anybody so had a really relaxing time. Would definitely go back.

The lodge was well appointed, the location was a dream and there was plenty of wildlife to be seen. Hot tubbing in the snow was sureal! We came home feeling relaxed and refreshed, this is the ideal location if you are looking for peace and quiet.
